Girl Gang - September 2024

Happy Fall y'all!  It felt good to gather again and share projects.

Trudy brought her Trick or Treat quilt.  A Jan Patek pattern.  Oh, we all love that quilt!

Trudy also brought her applique quilt that is Norma's pattern.  It is such a beautiful quilt and she did such a great job on it.

Kathy has been working on this beautiful applique quilt.  The pattern is called Flower Pot by Kim McLean.  The bright colors are so gorgeous.  Some of the fabrics are Kaffe and some are from Kathy's daughter-in-laws line.  Laure Muir designs for Moda Fabrics.  Her line is Create Joy Project.

Laraine has just finished this fabulous quilt called Wenslydale.  It is a Jen Kingwell pattern from her book Quilt Recipes.  It is such a fun quilt and so happy.  Love the bright colors!

This bold quilt is one that Brittany created to honor her Swedish ancestry.  She calls it Ancestry #1 Palfreyman after her ancestors. Brit is machine quilting this herself.  We will be waiting for Ancestry #2!

Jennifer brought a couple of blocks from her Folk Flower quilt.  She and Liz are 46 blocks down and 6 to go.  The pattern is an Anna Maria Horner pattern and the fabrics are Tilda Bloomsville.

Lorraine said that in May Leslie challenged her to finish this cross stitch piece by the time we met in September and she made it.  It is a lovely piece.

Lorraine does such beautiful needlepoint.  This angel has been a work in progress for a while but what a lovely piece.

Slow stitching seems to fit Lorraine perfectly.  She has made this fabric stitchery book with no pattern or plan in mind.  She just stitches what she likes with what she has.

This patriotic quilt by Debra was the perfect quilt to bring today.  It memorializes the 9/11 tragedy and it was very fitting that she shared this quilt with us today.  We will not forget.

Debra has been working on this quilt called Fresh Cut by Sue Spargo.  It is wool applique with embellishing stitches.  Debra said it took her about a year to complete.  That is amazing.  What a treasure!  Every stitch is perfect.  Love it!

Norma has enjoyed lots of reading this summer and is looking forward to working on some new projects.  She has been working through a lot of her fabric.  You go girl!  She does a 9-patch or two every day for this darling scrappy quilt.  She isn't sure how big it will be, she just keeps adding.  The strips are 1 1/4 inch cut so 3/4 inch finished.

This is another very scrappy star quilt with Norma using up her scraps.

This is a darling stitching piece that Norma shared.  It is so sweet.

Leslie has been busy cross stitching.  She just started this piece and she only works on it on Sunday so she said it will take a little longer than normal.  His Eye Is On The Sparrow by Heartstring Samplery.

Turkey Hollow is in progress and Leslie hopes to have it finished by next month.

Leslie finished these lovely stitching pieces and they are beautiful framed with Dennis' custom made frames.

Maxine's quilt is getting finished for a great granddaughter who is soon to arrive.  This baby will be named after Leslie's mom.  Leslie is knitting away on a sweater for the two new babies that are coming.  The same sweater pattern that she made her own children when they were babies.

This quilt by Leslie is Norma's pattern - Land That I Love.  And we all love it!  This is Leslie's "election quilt" to work on to get through the craziness of this year.

Julie is one busy applique gal.  She is working on Field of Flowers by Kim McLean.  She has 13 flower blocks out of 160 left to do and then will work on the border.  She started with the quilt kit fabrics but has shifted to Kaffe fabrics.  It is beautiful.

Liz has finished a birthday quilt for her daughter Mary's 40th birthday in November.  It is Elizabeth Hartman's Crystal Cluster.  Mary is an artist and loves color.

Liz finished this Wensleydale quilt pattern of Jen Kingwell's.  Thanks so much to Diane Ward for sharing lots of her Kingwell fabrics to make this quilt.  It was fun.

Did you notice that this is the same pattern that Laraine made but she used brights?  I may have to try that!

Girl Gang - May 2026

What fun to see new projects and what people have been working on. Leslie is as busy as ever.  She has made this Three Flags Log Cabin quilt...
