Girl Gang - September 2023

We hope you all had a great summer!  It was great to gather again to share projects, tips and ideas.  We had more fun laughing about funny things that have happened.  Like Kerry donating patterns that she has already made and then buying some of them back at a quilt fair for a dollar!  When someone mentioned being overwhelmed by all of the amazing projects, someone said that she is just "over stimulated!"

Diane's daughter, Stephanie Bruce, wanted to borrow some fabrics so she went to her mom's and gathered.  She made this darling carry bag out of Diane's own fabrics.  It is so cute.  She also made the fanny pack out of cute cactus fabric.

Diane made this adorable baby quilt in a square in a square pattern.  Each center square has a charming picture of cars, monsters, trucks, etc.  It is so cute.

I asked Diane to bring her Steampunk quilt again.  It is a Jen Kingwell pattern and Diane's fabric choices are so great.  The back is map fabric of Paris.

Norma share some projects she is working on.  She is making small 9 patch blocks for a friend who is doing a quilt with over a thousand 9 patches.    They measure 2 3/4. Norma makes them as starters and enders when she is working on something else.  A brilliant idea.

Norma is using some of her leftover blocks to make small quilts that she hand quilts and will donate to the Holladay Quilt Show auction.  The colors in this one are so soothing.
This red and navy quilt is rich with deep colors.  It will be another quilt for the auction.  Norma said this is a good way to use up her fabric and be productive.  She grew up in the Midwest with the thought to accomplish something every day.

This quilt is one of Norma's patterns called Flowers of Autumn.  It is filled with so many wonderful fabrics.

Norma and Leslie are both working on small scrappy stars.  Norma's are in two different colorways: pink and brown, and random scrappy colors.

Leslie's small stars are all scrappy.

Leslie is stitching away on counted cross stitch and made this cute pillow.  It is filled with sawdust and had a nice feel to it.  She also made the piece with bees and a beehive.

This star quilt is a pattern of Norma's and Leslie expanded it to make it a little bigger.
Leslie just finished this red and cream Burgoyne Surrounded quilt.  It is beautiful!

Leslie has been working on this Gone to Texas quilt lately.  It is so scrappy and so charming.  Leslie said it was harder than she expected.  From Leslie, that is saying something.  We can't wait to see it quilted.

Lorraine always has some amazing stitchery piece.  She did this cute queen piece because, she is "the queen bee" of her home.

Lorraine just finished Squash Squad, a Sue Spargo pattern, if a completely different colorway than the pattern.  It is so happy!

Debra is just finishing up the last stockings on this clever advent calendar: ABC Christmas Advent by Vickie Higley and Kara Charlesworth.  The little stockings are open at the top to slip a candy or little gift inside.  It is so dear.

Debra is also working on these fun Christmas stockings.  She will be ready for the holiday!

Kerry has started the Sue Spargo quilt, Of A Feather.  Her first block is appliqued and embellished and the second is ready for embellishing.

Kerry is doing a block of the month stitching book by Amy McClellan.

Kerry's husband, Dale, is a master caricature carver.  He made this piece for Kerry and it is the cutest quilter trying to thread a needle.  It is a treasure!

Val has been busy with piecing and cross stitch.  She put together this snowball quilt with hundreds of blocks.  Every other block is light or dark so that the quilt has a secondary pattern. A great way to use up fabric.  Amazing!

Val has also been busy with cross stitch and made this cute God Jul Christmas piece, Santa piece, cute Thanksgiving pillows and darling Christmas pillows.  So sweet!

Brittany made the beautiful low volume quilt for her sister.  The subtle colors are so refreshing and if you look closely, you will see a lot more going on in that quilt: cats, Star Wars, octopus, pandas and so much more.  Her sister is so lucky!

We have seen this quilt of Brittany's through the piecing process.  It is called Fairytale Forest and is a block of the month with Liberty of London fabrics.  Only Brittany!  It is large and will go on her bed.  She deserves to see it every day!

Ann took the Jen Kingwell class, Liz was there as well, and made this hand pieced block in the class.  It is so intricate!  Well done!

Liz made two Dragon Dreams quilts for a baby that came in July.  The parents didn't find out if it was a boy or girl so she made one in each color.  The blue one went to little Jameson.

Liz finally finished Kerry's amazing pattern, Nocturne, and enjoyed every stitch!  It is back from the quilter and just waiting for the binding to be stitched down.  Kerry, what a talent you are!

Girl Gang - May 2026

What fun to see new projects and what people have been working on. Leslie is as busy as ever.  She has made this Three Flags Log Cabin quilt...
