Girl Gang - June 2022

After taking almost six months off from Girl Gang, again, we are back to sharing quilts and stitching projects and gathering.  A big thanks to Diane Ward for hosting and having such a wonderful lunch of quiche, sweet rolls, fresh fruit (thanks Brittany) and orange juice.  It was so lovely and enjoyable.  And, the sharing was amazing!

Lorraine brought some beautiful needlepoint pieces that were framed so beautifully.

This is a lovely luna moth.

This bee stitchery looked so amazing in the striking frame with an edge of gold.

Lorraine just picked this up from the framer.  It is her English Garden.

Lorraine designed this cute beehive out of hexigons.

This mitten quilt is also a Lorraine original.  So cute.

Lorraine did this spool quilt

Lorraine used Kerry's Honey Flow quilt
pattern and adapted it with her own
creativity.  She likes to call it Her Garden.

This Crazy quilt ties Lorraine to lots of memories of fabrics that were in clothes that she wore
or projects that she has made.

Brittany has been busy with her girls making doll quilts and box beds for the cute little Danish mice dolls that her girls love to play with.  They are Danish Maileg mouses.  They can be purchased from Knot + Spool in Holladay, Dutchman's Market in Santa Clara and at a shop in Midway, not sure which one.  We all want one!

Look at the darling quilt that Brittany made!

And the little pillows and mattresses.  So sweet.

Brit turned a tin into a little mouse house as well.

Look at these quilts!

Brittany is still working on Liberty stars.  She probably has
a million!  They are tiny and delicate.

Brittany is doing a Liberty block of the month quilt through Duck a Dilly.  This is her first block.  And, the word on the street is that JoAnn's is selling Liberty fabrics at three selected stores in Utah.  Contact Brit or Ann if you want to know where they are.
Brittany is busy again doing this amazing improv quilt.  It is so amazing!
Little tiny, tiny pieces sewn together in her amazing scrappy style.

This is going to be one amazing quilt!

This will give you an idea of the size: no strip is wider than 1/2".

A little peek at the back.  That is a lot of seams!

Debra has been working on this amazing bird quilt from a Sue Spargo pattern: Birds of a Feather.  It is a wool on wool.  The birds and floral wreaths are so gorgeous with Debra's embellishments.

A close up of blocks.

It would be easy to look at this quilt for hours!

Another darling quilt made by Debra.

This darling soft sewing box is perfect for Debra to carry her stitching supplies.

Ann is always knitting and is working on this scarf with fancy yarn that she found in St. George

Ann brought this book to share of the story of the making of Missouri Star Quilt Company.  It might be a good one to put on your list.

Ann and Brit made some fun bags for their trips to quilt shows.  It is so darling!

Debra brought this sweet book to share.  It is
a favorite among quilters!

Julie brought some lovely quilts that will be so fun to put out and enjoy.  Wool applique and regular applique.  Beautiful!
Autumn quilt pattern by Heart to Hand.  Julie did such a wonderful job on this quilt.

This adorable quilt is made of all Kaffe fabrics on the birds and border.  It is the cutest, happiest quilt!

The backing on the bird quilt is perfect.

101 Maple Street pattern by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs.  It is
such a happy quilt and Julie had the perfect fabrics to put the quilt together.
The amazing thing is that Julie has made two!

Vickie brought an African themed group quilt.  Each quilter contributed African fabric and Vickie put hers together in this striking pattern.

I am sorry that I didn't spend time going around Diane's home taking pictures of all of her beautiful quilts.  She has some amazing pieces.  This quilt is Jen Kingwell's Wensleydale pattern.  The fabrics are gorgeous and it was fun to see it on Diane's table.  I took pictures of sections because you won't want to miss a block!

Leslie has been focusing on cross stitch on little tiny aida cloth with one embroidery thread.  They are so beautiful and when she gets finished with a piece, Dennis makes the frame.

Leslie has these great magnifying glasses
that give her clear vision when she is stitching.

This beautiful and TINY stitched sampler is also a reminder of Leslie's
maternal line.  Can you find Leslie's initials in the piece?  It is so fabulous!

This is Leslie's applique/stitching pillow.
It is lightweight and sits on her lap to bring her work
up closer.

"Peace and plenty be to thee".  Another wonderful sampler with Dennis' frame.

Don't you love this thought on the back of Leslie's piece?  Grateful for another day.

This was to commemorate Leslie and Dennis' anniversary.

This piece is amazing.  Leslie toned the colors down to fit her favorite color choices.

Liz is not spending as much time with her daughter and the twins so is getting a few things done.

This Noah quilt has been in the works since 2008.  I know that because
I started it when we moved to South Africa.  This pattern was
supercharged by Debra who reworked it and added a second animal
to the original pattern.  I finally scrapped the large borders
around the outside (after 10 years) and was so happy to finish.

Jennifer and I have been working on a large pinwheel quilt
and these half square triangles were the leftover pieces.

And, this was a three day wonder.  I cut last Wednesday and had it finished
by Friday afternoon.  It is for my son who is turning 40 next month.  Love
this Elizabeth Hartman pattern, Dogs in Sweaters.

This is another baby quilt from the leftovers.
The fabric is Riley Blake Gem Stones.

Have you seen the Tilda fabrics?  I bought this Cotton Beach fat quarter pack and had so
much fun whacking the fabric up and sewing together this super easy quilt.  It also generated
two baby quilts from the leftovers.

FYI - If you haven't heard, the International Quilt Show is going to be held in Salt Lake City!  July 18 - 23, 2022

Happy Stitching!!

Girl Gang - May 2026

What fun to see new projects and what people have been working on. Leslie is as busy as ever.  She has made this Three Flags Log Cabin quilt...
